What is Chicken Road?
Chicken Road, also known as Craps or Banker’s Craps, is a popular casino game that has been around for centuries in various forms. It originated from ancient European games of chance and has since evolved into the modern version we know today. The name “chicken road” likely stems from the concept of players putting money on either Chicken Road side of the table, creating an imbalance between high-risk and low-risk bets.
How Does Chicken Road Work?
In a standard game of Chicken Road, participants place their bets in one of several categories: pass line, don’t pass, come, or don’t come. The objective is to predict which bet will result in more favorable outcomes based on the roll of two dice by the shooter (the player rolling the dice). There are three possible outcomes:
1. Natural: a direct roll of 7-11.
2. Craps: if the number rolled after the natural exceeds 10, it counts towards the target result and doesn’t affect any subsequent rolls.
3. Banker’s Roll: for each time one side scores while another does not.
The game’s betting system works as follows:
- The pass line bettor places a stake to be collected upon completion of the roll.
- The don’t come wager is made in opposition, seeking failure on all rolls.
